Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in Chocolate Chips:
    • Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Scoop the Dough:
    • Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still look soft.
  9. Cool:
    • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
